Problem
The human body is made out of 60% of water. Any fluid that flows in the body is substantial to our wellness.
Alcohol is one of the most consumed liquids besides water. Therefore, it is crucial to measure alcohol consumption and address drinking issues.
of people who are 18 or older have alcohol use disorder
of East Asians have alcohol intolerance that causes facial flush and cancers
How alcohol affects our bodies...
Heart Rate
BAC Level
SpO2 Level
Hydration Level
Doing a blood test, which is invasive.
How To Measure Alcohol Consumption
Using a breathalyzer. However, the result can be inaccurate for people with diabetes.
Technology Integration
A compact biosensor can calculate Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) and hydration levels through sweat samples collected from the skin.
Wearable Clinic Is The Future
The project aims to integrate a biosensor into a wearable device to measure alcohol consumption with basic vitals so that users can evaluate their body performance and improve overall wellness.
Ideation
Exploring different form factors from rectangular and circular to curvilinear shapes.
The main idea is to make the interface user-friendly, using simple indications to show the drinking status.
Feedback
01 “ Simplify the interface to make it non-tech-savvy so that I can
follow up on the instructions. ”
02 “ I hope wearing this device can show that I am a responsible
drinker and prevent peer pressure. ”
03 “ I would like it to be easy to read, but also somewhat not too
obvious to the public. ”
Solution
The design is inspired by natural geometry, such as dunes and waves. The interface is always facing the user and back to others, making it visible to the user but remains some privacy to the public. Users can determine whether keep drinking or stop based on the light indication.
